Our minister is Rev. Torrey Griffiths. He began his work on January 1, 2017. This is a two-point charge, New London and Kensington.

The Rev. Torrey Griffiths grew up in a small town in Southern Ontario.  Growing up he was active in his home church singing in the children’s and youth choirs and attending Sunday school.  During his teen years he was an active member in his church’s youth group as well as heavily involved in the Synod’s Presbyterian Young People’s Society.

Before becoming a minister, Torrey spent over a decade teaching in elementary schools.  It was during his time as a teacher that Torrey felt his call to ministry. He began taking courses online from Knox College (University of Toronto) and later enrolled full-time to complete his Master’s of Divinity.  Torrey was ordained as a minister in the winter of 2016. Rev. Torrey was inducted as the minister of the two point pastoral charge of Kensington Presbyterian Church and St John’s, New London Presbyterian Church, January 1, 2017.

Torrey is very close to his family. His mother and father live in Charlottetown.  The Rev. Dawn Griffiths (mother) is the minister at Hartsville Presbyterian Church on PEI. His brother and family live in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and his grandparents reside in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Sunday School: We have a small group of young people in our congregation but we have a mighty Sunday school. We meet during the church service from September – May each year.

Choir: Our choir is a group of people who love to sing! We meet for practice at 9:30am on the Sundays when our service is at 11am.

Outreach Committee: Our congregations participated in a reVision project in 2018 and from this, we struck an Outreach Committee to spearhead programs that will expand the value of our church in the community. We hope that through this, those not connected to a community of faith, will understand what being connected to a church do.

Pastoral Care: We have a Pastoral Care team that will be a support to our minister by visiting those in the community who may be unable to join us in worship.

Bible Study: These are held during the Fall and Winter months. There are two times available during the week to accommodate those that participate.

KD Lunch: As a result of the reVision project, it was decided that a good way to reach out to the student population of both of our congregations was to offer a weekly Kraft Dinner lunch during the school year. This is held in the basement of the Kensington church since it is just down the street from the Junior/Senior High School.
