New to St. Paul’s

Whether you’re new to church or just new to St. Paul’s, we’re glad you are here. We know visiting a church for the first time can feel a little daunting, but we hope you’ll feel genuinely welcomed and at ease.

Below are answers to some common questions—but if you have others, don’t hesitate to contact us.

What should I wear?

Come as you are! People wear anything from jeans and shorts to dresses or business casual. No need to dress up—just come comfortably.

Where can I park?

We have a parking lot directly beside the church, and street parking is also available.

How early should I arrive?

Most people arrive 5–20 minutes before the service starts at 11 a.m. Some come earlier to visit, read the bulletin, or settle in. Don’t worry if you’re a little late—greeters are happy to assist.

What should I expect when I arrive?

You can enter through:

    • The side entrance (ramp access)

    • The center front entrance

    • The left front entrance (when facing the building)

If you enter via the side, follow the hall and turn left into the vestry. From there, take the stairs up to the sanctuary. (Washrooms are just past the vestry entrance.) You may meet someone preparing coffee or chatting—people happy to greet you and point you in the right direction.

If you enter from the front, head straight upstairs to the sanctuary.

Inside the sanctuary, a greeter will offer you a bulletin outlining the service. Scripture readings and hymn numbers are included, and Bibles and hymnbooks are in the pews. The bulletin notes when you’re invited to stand (in body or spirit).

You’ll also notice our livestream setup. Our tech support may be recording as you arrive, so be mindful of conversations near the camera.

Is the church accessible?

While our sanctuary is only accessible by stairs, we offer a worship space downstairs in the vestry. There you’ll find a screen streaming the service live. The vestry is ramp-accessible and features seating around tables—some even prefer this space for its relaxed atmosphere (and coffee!).

The washrooms are also located on this level and are equipped with mobility aids for added support and accessibility.

At the request of our Board of Managers, Ability New Brunswick has recently conducted an accessibility review of our building and facilities. We’re grateful for their guidance and are exploring ways to improve accessibility so that everyone feels welcome and at home at St. Paul’s.

What about children?

Children are invited to join J.A.M. – Jesus and Me – during worship. This time includes stories, discussion, and hands-on activities led by our youth leaders—helping kids grow in faith and friendship.

What’s the atmosphere like?

We hope you’ll find our services warm, meaningful, and engaging. Worship is thoughtfully and prayerfully prepared to help you encounter God’s grace through Scripture, prayer, music, and reflection.

We’re especially grateful for our stained glass windows, which fill the sanctuary with natural light and offer moments for quiet contemplation.

Hospitality matters to us—not just as a friendly gesture, but as a way of helping people feel more connected and engaged in worship and congregational life. It’s through welcome and presence that we foster meaningful relationships with one another.

What is the music like?

Our worship includes a mix of classic and contemporary hymns, accompanied by piano or organ. Sometimes we’re blessed by a choir, soloists, or instrumental music as well.

Will I be asked to give money?

An offering is part of our service, but you are not expected to give.

Offering is an act of gratitude and commitment to God’s work—monetary or otherwise. Whether you give time, skill, kindness, or funds, all gifts are valued.

If you do choose to give, offering envelopes are available in the pew racks and, if you attend regularly, you may wish to request a set of envelopes.

What happens after worship?

Join us downstairs in the vestry for light refreshments and conversation. It’s a relaxed way to meet new friends and ask questions.

What if there’s a snowstorm?

If bad weather leads to a service cancellation, we’ll send an email and post updates on social media. Thanks to technology, we’re often still able to livestream a shortened service from home.
