Your First Visit at St. Paul’s Carluke
Walking into a new church can feel like a big step — so here’s what you can expect when you join us at St. Paul’s Carluke. Whether you’re exploring faith, returning after time away, or looking for a church home, we’d love to meet you. St. Paul’s Carluke is a place where relationships run deep across generations, and newcomers quickly become part of the family.
A Warm, Intergenerational Community
We’re a small but vibrant congregation, usually 45–55 people on a Sunday. Our community spans every generation — kids, teens, parents, grandparents, and long-time friends who feel like family. On any given Sunday, you may find 0–11 children in attendance, and they’re always welcome.
Sunday School & Worship
Children begin in the service and head to Sunday School partway through, giving families time to worship together. Children are invited for a brief prayer or story time with the pastor before heading off to Sunday School
Come As You Are
Dress is casual and comfortable. Sit anywhere you like — there are no assigned seats, and you’ll be greeted with friendly smiles as you arrive.
Worship Style, Music and Choir
At St. Paul’s, worship feels relaxed, relational, and joyfully intergenerational. Before the service begins, you’ll often see people moving around the sanctuary, catching up, greeting one another, and settling in. We’re a casual bunch — connection is part of our worship.
Children are welcome in every part of our service. Don’t feel you need to hush them; their voices, questions, and wiggles are part of the life of our congregation.
During worship, you can expect a blend of familiar Presbyterian elements and warm congregational traditions. We often recite or sing the Lord’s Prayer, sing the Doxology after the offering, and close with a song of blessing over one another, “May the Hope of God.”
Our choir helps lead worship most Sundays, offering a mix of traditional hymns, contemporary music, and a weekly anthem that enriches our time together.
Offerings at St. Paul’s Carluke
We practice a simple, two plate offering that reflects both our local ministry needs and our commitment to serving our wider community.
The First Plate — supports the ongoing ministry of St. Paul’s Carluke — everything from church administration to building care to the weekly rhythms that help us worship together. It also includes our contribution to Presbyterian Sharing, the national mission and outreach work of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
The Second Plate — is collected by our youth and children supporting a different local mission each month.
A Quick Note About the Pastor
If the pastor seems to “disappear” right after the service, don’t worry — nothing mysterious is happening. St. Paul’s is part of a two point charge with Knox Presbyterian, and our pastor heads directly to the second service. You’ll still have opportunity to connect with the pastor before worship, don’t hesitate to ask to speak to them or connect after worship following the service on the first Sunday of each month when the pastor sticks around.
