Past Moderator of Synod – Rev. Mavis Currie
Mavis has served as the lead minister at Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas for the past nine years. She began her ministry in rural Manitoba, before taking several years away from ministry to raise her growing family. She has previously served as the minister to youth and young families at Westmount Presbyterian Church in London. Currently, Mavis is excited about her involvement in the New Beginnings experience with the national church. Mavis and her husband Tom have three children who are all young adults, attending university and beginning their careers. She loves a nice morning jog, a good cup of coffee, and corny jokes.
Clerk of Synod – Rev. Mark McLennan
Mark has served the Presbyterian Church in Canada for over 40 years, in charges from Alberta to Nova Scotia and Ontario. For the most part, Mark sees himself as a preacher, pastor, and storyteller. Mark has moderated several presbyteries and two Synods. He has also been a presbytery clerk on several occasions. He has recently retired from Knox Presbyterian Church, Woodstock, and is currently serving as interim minister at New St. James Presbyterian Church in London. When relaxing, he enjoys harness racing, live theatre, choral singing, cooking, and fine dining.
