TFPC is a community of faith rooted in the Reformed tradition, committed to glorifying God, proclaiming the gospel, and nurturing discipleship. Our beliefs are centred on the authority of Scripture, the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. Below, we outline the core tenets that guide our faith, worship, and mission.
God
We believe in one true and eternal Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three in one, equal in power and glory. God is the Creator of all things, and the universe testifies to God’s majesty. God entered into a covenant with Israel, through whom Jesus Christ, the Son of God, established a new covenant of salvation through faith. God continues to be present through the Holy Spirit, guiding the Church and sustaining us in faith.
The Bible
We believe the Bible, divinely inspired, is the authoritative rule for faith and life. It is sufficient and reliable in revealing Jesus Christ as the living Word and is the standard by which all teachings and practices are measured. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we strive to faithfully live out the Word in life.
Worship
We live to worship God, which is our highest calling. Through the faithful preaching of the Word, celebrating the sacraments, petitioning in prayer, instructing in sound doctrine, and fellowshipping in spirit and in truth, our faith and lives are sustained by the grace of God. Worship unites us with Christ, who intercedes for the world, and inspires us to serve with joy and gratitude.
Baptism
We celebrate Baptism as a sign of our union with Christ and the Church. Through Baptism, we acknowledge the washing away of sin, new life in Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Baptism is a sign of God’s grace for people of all ages, including children, who are all included in God’s covenant family, calling us to lifelong discipleship and nurturing of faith.
Holy Communion
We gather at the table to celebrate the Holy Communion, instituted by Christ, to remember his life, death, and resurrection. In the bread and wine, which symbolise his body and blood, Christ nourishes us, deepens our unity with him and one another, and proclaims his atoning sacrifice. Holy Communion is a joyful mystery that strengthens our faith, renews our commitment, and points us to the hope in Christ’s return.
Creeds and Standards
We affirm the early Christian creeds, including the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds, which summarise our faith in God and the Christian life. We also adhere to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Living Faith (Foi Vivante) as our subordinate standards, along with other creeds that guide our beliefs and practices. These confessions and statements help us to stay true to the teachings of the Word and our covenant with God.
These beliefs reflect our commitment to faithfully following Jesus Christ, living out the gospel in our worship, community, and service.
