Spend your Summer with Knox!
On July 28, our new book club began reading Theo of Golden By Allen Levi. It isn’t too late to join us! We know summer is busy, so drop in when you can and invite your friends to discuss this amazing book.
We will hold book club in the “Secret Garden” on Waterloo Street. If the weather is bad, we will meet in the multi-purpose room.
Drop in or let Pastor Heather know you are coming! Hope to see you there!

Here is the latest re-cap:
For out next meeting on August 25 please read up to Page 196 which is the end of Chapter 32. I am planning to bring in a clip of the author reading “The Princess of Titalamish” which we will end our time with.
Also, if you want a little extra homework – What do you know about Augustine? (brought up in Chapter 29)
Here is today’s recap:
- We talked about how listening leads to opportunities to give acts of kindness and leads to hope – demonstrates ‘heaven on earth’
- We talked about the neuroscience behind “it is better to give then receive”
- We talked about how Theo demonstrates Matthew 6:4 – giving in secret when it came to taking care of the Whitaker family
- We talked about Theo’s grief in Ch 17 and the grief that we have experienced
- we talked about ‘the fish that didn’t know it was tasty’ – the idea that Asher a good artist, but doesn’t realize how good he is. We talked about encouragement and Prov. 18:21 – how life and death is in the power of the tongue. Theo’s tongue brings life – What does your tongue bring?
- We also made a lot of speculation about the parts of Asher’s appt that caught Theo’s attention. He said it was his plan coming together – what plan and why? Why are people trusting him?
