To be with Christ

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” ~ Mark 1:15

” … to be with him, and to be sent out to proclaim the message, and to have authority to cast out demons.” ~ Mark 3:14, 15

“For there is nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret, except to come to light.” ~ Mark 4:22

The Christian’s task is to bring to light that which is already here; to disclose in the midst of the storms the presence of the government of God by the birth and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth.

I don’t know how this can be done if I am entangled in the cares of this age; if I am pressed in by pressures within and without; if I am rooted in the thin and changeable soils of politics, instant news, and cultural fads.

How can I expect peace in the nations or in my family if there’s no peace in my heart?

Being with the One who embodies and inaugurates the kingdom of God is not only good for society but necessary for the health of my own body, mind, and spirit.

To be with Jesus I must recognize when I’m apart: when I’ve become entangled in the weeds, withered by the heat, scared by the storms.  And return.

Return in the privacy of my mind and heart to the One who walks the way of life that is true joy and peace in spite of the chaos.

Easier said than done.
