January 2020:

Come as you are and leave changed!

December Series: Advent Season.

In these series, we will consider the Advent themes and conclude with John’s vision in Revelation 21.

Come as you are and leave changed!

September-November Series: I Will Build My Church.

Jesus laid the firm foundation of the Church and asked the apostles to build on it, which they did admirably and handed over to the next generation. Now, our time has come to continue building this architectural masterpiece, which is ever contextually-reforming.

Sisters and brothers, no matter your profession, God has called you to this project that started about 2000 years ago. You can minister to people wherever you are working. But as you build, remember that you are growing Christ’s Church, not yours. Hence, the building must be done in Christ’s way. Thus, the aim of this series is to help us examine how we are building so that we can be sure that we are building Christ’s Church according to the Master’s plan.

Come as you are and leave changed!

August Series: Living Outside the Box.

I heard someone said: “Instead of thinking outside the box, get rid of the box.” Okay, I can understand why someone would like to get rid of the box. However, I think it’s best you live your life outside the box because when you die, you may go into it. I am using the word “box” as a metaphor for a state or place of being. The August series will focus on the Gospel according to Luke chapters 12 and 13. One of the main goals is to encourage people to consider and start living outside their comfort zone.

Come as you are and leave changed!

From God to You, with Love,” is the theme of July series, which is a letter from a Father to his sons and daughters.

The Father says:

My child, you may not know me, but I know everything about you. I know when you sit down and when you rise up and even your thoughts. I am familiar with all your ways (Psalm 139:1-3).

Come as you are and leave changed!

June Series: The Father to Follow.

For June, we are focusing on the theme The Father to Follow. Fatherhood is a privileged-calling and an opportunity to all men who have children and grandchildren, whether biologically or through adoption to mold them in the image of Christ. This series is crucial because it is more challenging to be a father and grandfather now than ever before. Hence, the series will encourage people, most especially men, to look unto God because He is the Father to follow.

Come as you are and leave changed!

May series: The Woman of Noble Character.

The Scripture informs us that: It is difficult to find a woman of noble character because “she is worth far more than rubies” (Proverbs 31:10). But who is she? The May series focus on some characteristics of a noble Christian woman. According to Scripture, she is EXPENSIVE; INFLUENTIAL; SACRIFICIAL and LEGISLATIVE.

These adjectives are telling us that the stakes are higher for Christian women because they have so many crucial roles to play in strengthening our families and communities. For example, “the Christian woman is young and old, single and married, raising a family with a spouse and as a single parent, caring for children and caring for aging parents, working at home and working in the marketplace.” Hence, balancing all the things they do at home, workplace, and communities is difficult.

So, this May, we celebrate with our wives, mothers, and grandmothers and the goal is to encourage them to continue to strive to become who God desires them to be as they continue to strengthen our families and communities for God’s glory.

Come as you are and leave changed!

April series: The Community and the Passion of Christ.

Our series this April focuses on the Passion of Christ, and, especially some of the ways it speaks to the worshipping community. For example, The Passion asks for MUCH MORE; The Passion speaks Against FICKLE FOLLOWERS; The Passion calls for REMEMBRANCE & CELEBRATION; The Passion sends an OPEN LETTER.

Note: There will be a Good Friday Service, which will focus on Christ’s Passion and to channel the sadness we feel into the current events in God’s world. The aim is for us to pray for the world that God so loved that He gave His one and only Son.

On Easter Sunday, we will remember the resurrection of Christ and its impact on our identity as Christians. Also, we will remember our loved ones and friends who had impacted our life and faith. Although they are dead and awaiting our reunion in the next life,  they continue to impact our faith. It is not a service for the dead, but a service of thanksgiving and hope/anticipation.

Come as you are and leave changed!

February-March series: The Community and the Pursuit of God.

Usually, in the season of Lent, some believers work to grow their spiritual life by, for example, cutting off the TV, coffee, sugar, chocolate, meat, old habits, and addictions. But what happens after Lent? Normally, people return to their obsessions and old lifestyles.
In this February-March series, Scripture will challenge you to pursue God by growing your spiritual life through some spiritual exercises that are intended to go beyond the Lenten season. Also, it will encourage you to intentionally spend (more) time on your spiritual life and growth, at least, as you would your physical health, work and passing a course or an exam. This experience will take your relationship with God to a higher level (Psalm 42:1).

Come as you are and leave changed!

January series: “The Shepherd and his Community.”

C. H. Spurgeon, the great preacher said the following on the Twenty-Third Psalm: What the nightingale is among birds, this psalm is among others; it has sung sweetly in the ear of many a dejected soul, and in the night of his weeping has given him hope for a morning of joy. Do you feel afraid and uncertain for yourself, loved ones, and friends in this new year? This majestic psalm is for you. So, open your heart to it. Come as you are and leave changed!
