THE ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was held on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2025
2024 was a transition year for St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. On July 1st we entered into an ESM with St. Paul’s United Church, Bowmanville and began worship together from that date.
The Annual Report for the ESM is a 50-page document outlining the many programs and services the church provides, operational expenses, staffing, and planning for the future. The total 2025 budget is set at $426,617.00. St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will be contributing $40,000.00 towards this budget. If anyone wishes to obtain a copy of the AGM document, please contact Jim MacMaster.
The ESM Central Board is headed by Nancy Dalrymple. David Moss now becomes the Past Chair. This governing Board includes reps from both churches. Reps from St. Andrew’s include: Jim MacMaster, Yvonne Kryzanowski, Jeff Kryzanowski and Rev. Elizabeth Jobb & Rev. Ann Blane.
There are many Committee and outreach programs in our ESM. There are many ways in which you can contribute. For example, volunteer to knit prayer shawls, help out with food preparation on Tuesday or Thursday mornings, attend a Bible study, join a committee, help with the church garden or clothing store. Your help or prayerful support is needed. Your participation is greatly appreciated.
In September 2024, we closed our physical church building and began the process of emptying out much of the physical contents of the building in preparation for sale.
We lost a number of our cherished members and adherents due to moving away from Bowmanville, health condition preventing church attendance and death, in 2024. As a consequence, our revenues have fallen. We continue to meet ongoing building related expenses, Presbytery levy, Presbyterian Sharing, the retired ministers’ fund, other charitable donations, and our portion of the operating costs of the St. Paul’s United and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Ecumenical Shared Ministry.
There have been so many individuals who have helped contribute to the church in so many ways this past year. We are so grateful for your time, efforts and contributions to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

Sad News to Share

Julie LAMBERT (nee OGDEN)

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of JULIE LAMBERT on February 21, 2025 after a lengthy illness.  Julie is predeceased by her parents Jack and Jean Ogden. She is survived by her sister Marilyn (Duncan) Reid and her brother Donald (Carol) Ogden. Also mourning her loss are her niece and nephews. Julie adored her three Great nieces, who she thought were like Princesses.

Julie was a caring kind person, and found her career as a Registered Nurse. Julie had a wonderful sense of humour and could make others laugh even in trying times. Julie had many friends and all were extremely supportive and very kind to her. Kudos to Scott and Tammy for their regular visits and Carolyn for all her phone calls from Alberta.

The family would like to thank all the staff and management at Glen Hill Terrace. Special thanks to Rev. Anita Demeter for all her comforting and spiritual care. Following Julie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held in the spring.

Mary VANHEUVELEN (18 June 1927 to 16 March 2025)

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of MARY (Marrigje) VANHEUVELEN at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in her 98th year.

Beloved wife of the late Hendrik Van Heuvelen. Dear mother of the late Casey (Deborah) Van Heuvelen, Hendrika Van Heuvelen (infant predeceased, Holland), Rikie (Phillip) Pearce of Coboconk, Edward (Gail) Van Heuvelen of Bowmanville, and Margie (Ted) Dezsenyi of Holland Landing. Sister of Joke (Holland). Much loved gramma of Fred, Maryanne, Sara, Stuart, Stephanie and Brandon. Great-grandmother to Lily, Kyle, Dylan, Adeline, and Austin.

Mary was extremely talented when it came to her cross-stitch and cut-work lace, winning awards at Fairs and the CNE. She loved going camping every year and Bon Echo Provincial Park was their favourite park. She also had a great love of travel. She committed over 30 years of volunteering for the Association of Hospital Volunteers-Bowmanville, The Salvation Army and Community Care. She had a deep love of family and a strong Faith. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 29, 2025, at 1PM, at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
