It is with regret that we share the news of the passing of Indra Rattansingh of Courtice. The church sends its condolences and prayers to Clive, her extended family and friends.

THE PATH FORWARD

10 July 2024 – The Ecumenical Shared Ministry (ESM) proposal was approved by Presbytery on 18 June 2024. Worshipping and working together began 1 July 2024.

Below is an updated since our last communication in the 11 June 2024 newsletter. Any questions or concerns, please forward them to any member of Session or Rev. Ann Blane, Interim Moderator. Contact information is at end of this webpage.

SINCE THEN:

  • We conducted our last Worship Service in the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church building on Sunday, June 30, 2024 led by Elizabeth Jobb, followed by a luncheon,
  • We worshipped together with the St. Paul’s United Church “community of faith” on Sunday, July 7, 2024 in their building; thus, beginning the new Ecumenical Shared Ministry (ESM) church plan,
  • Michelle Brotherton led the Worship Service in the inaugural ESM church service-July 7th.
  • We have now begun sharing the financial support of the new ESM as of July 1, 2024,
  • The De-Consecration Service at St. Andrew’s church building is tentatively set for September 15, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. in the St. Andrew’s church building (the date when the doors to the church are permanently closed – metaphorically speaking).
  • Ann Blane will continue to be our Interim Moderator for St. Andrew’s.
  • A Covenanting Service is planned for Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church building to “induct/confirm” her position as Minister of the ESM and both churches.
  • The new ESM Central Board will begin in September 2024. St. Andrew’s members who have volunteered to join the ESM Central Board include:
    • Jim MacMaster, Rep for Presbytery
    • Yvonne Kryzanowski, Second/Spare for Jim MacMaster
    • Elizabeth Jobb, Minister in Association at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian
    • Doreen Gilroy, Outreach
    • Jeff Kryzanowski continues as Treasurer for St. Andrew’s and therefore is on the ESM Board automatically.
  • Staffing changes need to be completed.
  • Andrew’s needs to submit a formal recommendation to Presbytery to sell the building.
  • A committee has been cataloguing the contents of the St. Andrew’s Church building and will be working towards the reassignment of specific items to the St. Paul’s Church building, and disbursement of all items.

Message from your web administrator:

Since I took over the website in 2017, it has been my pleasure to try to provide page content that, hopefully, congregants and other interested parties found engaging. I want to thank St. Andrew’s for the opportunity to play with their web site and the trust they placed in me. A special thank you to Barbara W., for her amazing, monthly newsletters that has provided so much great content.

In August, my family and I are relocating to London, ON.  I’ll miss the wonderful community of Bowmanville and its people. Over the summer, I’ll update the Daily Prayers and Mission Moments sections of the website, and, come fall, plan to edit the website remotely. If you have any content you wish to add, please send it to bowmanvillepresbyterianchurch@gmail.com.

God bless and have a wonderful summer!  – Jan V.
