Ministries of St. John’s
WorshipMinistry:St. John’s understands the presence, work and worship of the Church to be the central calling and mission of the body of Christ. We join together to celebrate the resurrection, worshipping God weekly and on extra occasions throughout the church year. Cathy Allison is our music leader. Services are led by 2 lay people and 3 clergy on a rotating basis, arranged by Rev. Sabrina.
Community Ministry: We reach out by sharing the love of Christ and the good news of the gospel. We honour Christ’s call to care for those in need by supporting local charities, such as Kawartha Lakes Food Source (food bank), and A Place Called Home (women’s shelter), and other organizations as needs arise.
Outreach and world missions: Our members contribute to world relief and development through Presbyterian World Service and Development, and by sponsoring a child through World Vision.
Session: Our Session consists of 6 Elders who offer pastoral support to our people and give guidance to direct the congregation. Session is led by Rev. Sabrina, with the support of the Clerk, Gloria Johns.
Church School: Provide Christian education for children up to age 13. (Gloria Johns)
Property Committee: Cares for the physical needs of the building. (Bob Snelgrove)
St. John’s Ladies: Support mission, fundraising, events for women. (Jean Chilton)
Welcome Ministry: Greeting, after worship refreshments and fellowship, birthday and anniversary celebrations.
“Using the gift that God gave me, I did the work of an expert builder and laid the foundation. Someone else is building on it. Each of you must be careful how you build. Affiliations
St. John’s is a congregation of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, established 1875. We are accountable to the national church through The Presbytery of Lindsay-Peterborough.
We are registered with the CRA as a charitable, not-for-profit organization. We are also registered with Canada Helps Charitable organization (CanadaHelps.org) which assists in connecting charities and donors.
