Rev. Bruce Kemp
Bruce was born in Toronto and grew up in Montreal. He went to McGill University where he graduated with a BA, Honours in Religious Studies, and a Masters in Sacred Theology (STM). He then received his diploma from the Presbyterian College and was ordained in 1981.
He served two pastoral charges in Ontario and one in Alberta. From 1996 to 2006 he was a director with the Canadian Bible Society and was responsible for the area covering northern Alberta, northeastern BC, the Yukon, NWT and Nunavut. In 2006 he led a cross-Canada cycling fundraiser for the Bible Society’s 100th anniversary. More than 140 cyclists participated over the 8 weeks and more than $500,000 was raised.
Bruce served in the Canadian Military as a seaman from 1971-1975, and then as a chaplain from 1982-84, 88-97. Just before retiring he earned his CD.
From 2006 to 2013 he was self-employed as a handyman. In May of 2013 he moved to take up the position as minister for the three Presbyterian churches in Winchester, Morewood and Chesterville.
Bruce retired from full-time ministry on January 1, 2021, and took up his duties as Interim Moderator at Knox in October 2021.
