Meet our Minister

Our Minister: Rev. Michelle Butterfield- Kocis  BA(Hons), MDiv

(a.k.a Rev. Shelly)

Rev. Shelly graduated from Knox College, Toronto School of Theology, UofT in 2003. She was ordained into her first call to serve  as a Word & Sacrament Minister in the pastoral charge of Paisley-Glammis, in the Presbytery of Grey- Bruce- Maitland, 2005-2014. The pastoral charge of Knox, Komoka & North Caradoc-St. Andrew’s faithfully called Rev. Shelly in 2016 and she began her ministry among us on March 1, 2016.

Rev. Shelly has served in the Presbyterian Church in Canada in Camping ministries (currently serving on the board of Camp Kintail), at Canada Youth conferences (’08, ’12, ’16), she has served as Moderator of the Synod of Southwestern Ontario in 2012, Chaplain to the Moderator of the 144th General Assembly, served on Committee to Advise the Moderator (2019, 2020), served as Co-Moderator of the Presbytery of London 2020-2021, and currently serves on the Grants Committee of the PCC. Rev. Shelly enjoys speaking at Women’s retreats, exploring spiritual practices and continually learning about new ways to grow her faith and minister to God’s people.

Rev. Shelly loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, camping, canoeing, cottaging, and kayaking with her family. She is often found curled up with a book, watching a favourite movie or binge watching a latest show on a streaming service. She has been married to her best friend and greatest support, Franck Kocis for 27years and they have two adult children Franceska and Jakob.
