No matter our age, September brings thoughts of “Back to School.” Reading, writing, arithmetic; the world is full of things to learn! Yet Proverbs 1:7 reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. The fear of the Lord described in this verse is not the same as being afraid or scared; it’s a reverent love that understands God’s grace toward the person who trusts Christ and who wants to do what is pleasing to the Lord. The book of Proverbs was written by a Solomon, a man who loved the Lord and had a God-given wise and discerning mind. In September we will read through the godly wisdom recorded by Solomon in Proverbs.
