The church hall is full of fun every Wednesday afternoon from 1–4 p.m. (and sometimes a little later!). Around a dozen of us gather faithfully for games, friendship, and laughter. By mid-afternoon, more friends drop in for coffee and a snack, and sometimes we celebrate birthdays together.
We play a variety of games—Mexican Train Dominoes, Phase 10, Uno, Thousands, Tock, Jok-R-Ummy, and more. There’s usually a jigsaw puzzle on the go too! Seniors also take turns hosting the coffee break, but if someone can’t do it, that’s perfectly fine—there’s always enough to go around.
Each week we contribute $1 toward coffee and activities, and from time to time we order in pizza, head out for supper together, or plan some day adventure.
What makes Coffee House special is the sense of community and the friendships formed that go beyond coffee house hours. It’s also a wonderful way for anyone living alone to share an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Only the worst weather keeps us away! Newcomers are always welcome!
