Parent Information

Thank you for choosing Camp MacLeod! We are excited to welcome your camper for a summer of faith, friendship, outdoor adventure, and fun on the beautiful Mira River.

This page contains important information to help your camper have a safe and enjoyable camp experience.

First Day of Camp

Camp drop-off is between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM on the first day of camp.

Upon arrival, staff will direct families where to park and help campers bring their belongings to their cabins. After unloading, parents and guardians will complete registration and payment in the Dining Hall before saying goodbye.

To help us keep the camp safe and organized, please drive slowly when entering camp property and follow staff directions.

Cell Phone Policy

Camp MacLeod is a cell phone-free environment.

We encourage campers to unplug from technology and fully engage in camp life, outdoor activities, and friendships.

If a camper is found with a cell phone, it may be confiscated until the end of camp and parents may be contacted.

In emergency situations, campers will always have access to camp staff and camp phones.

Communication During Camp

We understand that sending your child to camp can be a big step.

Parents may contact camp by phone, particularly during meal times when staff are most likely to be indoors:

  • Breakfast: 8:00 AM
  • Lunch: 12:00 PM
  • Supper: 5:00 PM

If your child becomes ill, injured, or experiences significant homesickness, we will contact parents or guardians promptly.

Medical Information

Please ensure all allergies, medications, medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and other important health information are included on your registration form.

All medications must be provided directly to camp staff upon arrival and must be in their original labelled containers.

Our goal is to ensure every camper is safe, healthy, and supported throughout their stay.

Homesickness

Homesickness is a normal part of camp for many children, especially first-time campers.

Our staff are experienced in helping campers adjust to camp life, make friends, and feel included. Most campers settle in quickly once they become involved in activities and begin building connections with others.

We encourage parents to speak positively about camp before arrival and avoid promising early pick-ups.

Staff Supervision & Safety

The safety and well-being of campers is our highest priority.

Campers are supervised by trained staff throughout the day. Waterfront activities are supervised according to camp safety procedures, and staff are trained to respond to a variety of situations including first aid and emergencies.

We maintain appropriate staff-to-camper ratios to ensure campers receive the support and attention they need.

Behaviour Expectations

Camp MacLeod strives to provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone.

Campers are expected to:

  • Treat others with kindness and respect
  • Follow staff directions
  • Participate safely in activities
  • Respect camp property and facilities

Behaviour that is unsafe, harmful, or repeatedly disruptive may result in a camper being sent home early.

Financial Assistance (Campships)

A limited number of campships are available to families experiencing financial hardship.

Requests must be accompanied by a recommendation from a minister, priest, church leader, social worker, or other community professional and are subject to available funding.
