Life For March 25th, 2026
Holy Week is coming
We are nearing the time of the year that many Christians refer to as Holy Week. It is the of the year that begins with Palm Sunday. In some traditions people have a worship service every day of this week. Others commemorate or celebrate the following days Maundy Thursday (remembering the Last supper Jesus celebrated with the Disciples), Good Friday (the day when Jesus was crucified), Holy Saturday (a day of vigil), Easter Sunday (sunrise service and a service celebrating Jesus’ resurrection).
Each service helps us remember and traverse the different elements of these historic events. Each day has a different emotional response to the work and ministry of Jesus, from excitement of the coming messiah to the enriching of Jesus’s teaching in Jerusalem, to the meaningful last supper that Jesus celebrated with His disciples , to the solemn prayer in Gethsemane, the arrest of Jesus, His trial, His beating, crucification, burial, the empty tomb, and the realizing of the resurrection of Jesus. Each day is significant and important. Each day helps us go through the extent that Jesus went through to help with our redemption, the healing of our humanity and our relationship with God.
Sometimes we rush through this time and don’t take time to allow the deep meaning of this time to bring us closer to Jesus. But when we take the time to be present, it draws us closer to Jesus and helps us to breath and heal and be present not only in this time but each day of our lives. Take time this coming Holy Week to remember, to be present, to be together, to be able to draw closer to Jesus and to renewed life.
