Let us pray.

Glorious God of light and darkness, we are confronted with the struggles of this world. In one instance we hear about the blessing of life and how a community works together to lessen the burden of those in need. In another we are confronted by words that talk about peace, yet we wonder if there is any truth in them. In these times when so many doubt the long-held assumptions and the way we see and interact with the people and the world around us, it can become very lonely when dealing with the hurt and uncertainty that is ever present in our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls.

Ever present God, help us to not give into the anxiety that this fearful time is causing. Help us to not just walk in the way of peace but to breathe Your words of peace into our relationships. Grant us the strength to trust in You, though the darkness of fear and hatred keep calling into our souls. Shine Your light of hope and faithfulness so that we might follow You even when we are faint and weary; it is Your light shining in the darkness that reminds us that You are faithful and true. Grant us the eyes to see You during these difficult and trying days.

We pray this in the steadfast and stable name of Jesus, Amen.
