Better together
Throughout the Gospels we see the importance of not just doing ministry together but also doing life together. This exemplified in the disciples coming back together when they had important news to share. They treated each other like family. Jesus in many ways treated them like family. Even when Jesus appeared to the disciples it was them all together. Jesus’s ministry was one of togetherness and community.
Are we spending that much time trying to create such a caring and vibrant community that people are rushing to be together and supporting each other. Do we see the value focusing our attention on the beauty and care of each other and those we meet or do we find fault instead of working towards healing. Are we present or are we focused on ourselves and our own wants and desires?
May we embody Jesus who brings us together and sends us out together to do life and ministry together as a team.
“then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Philippians 2:2-4
