MISSION STATEMENT

Worshipping God, Following Jesus, Serving the Community

While many groups or organizations agonize to find a “Mission Statement” that adequately describes their purpose or reason for being, we at Knox Kincardine believe that our purpose is very simple:
“Worshipping God, Following Jesus, and Serving the Community”.

We Worship God at 10:30AM on Sunday mornings with uplifting music, meaningful prayers and inspiring sermons, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments.

We Follow Jesus day by day, striving to walk in the ways of love and compassion, justice and grace.

We Serve the Community – both locally and globally – by opening ourselves to the needs of others, hosting events such as Good Food Box, supporting local agencies such as Big Brothers/ Big Sisters, The Women’s House of Grey and Bruce, Kincardine and Area Food Bank, and being in partnership in support of Camp Kintail and the Grannies to Grannies mission in Malawi.

OUTREACH

Knox Missionary Society (KMS)
(formerly Women’s Mission Society)

The Knox Missionary Society is a community of Christians, male & female, whose purpose, in response to the love of God in Jesus Christ, is to encourage one another and all the people of the church to be involved in local and world mission through prayer, study, service and fellowship.

KMS studies current issues such as the needs and challenges of First Nations, human trafficking, maternal and infant health in third world countries, and the ongoing conflict in Israel/Palestine. The aim is to understand the needs of others and develop ways to partner with them in addressing those needs. KMS meetings are led by knowledgeable members and utilize study materials provided by the Presbyterian Church in Canada, as well as hosting guest speakers from time to time. All are welcome to attend our meetings.

Knox Kincardine directly supports a mission in Malawi which has been inspired by the devotion and service of Knox congregation members David and Miriam Barrie to the people of Malawi. KMS and the Christian Education Committee of Knox Kincardine also partner with Mission Without Borders to sponsor a child living in a care facility in the country of Moldova.

Kincardine Refugee Committee

Knox Kincardine is pleased to be partnering with Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) and the good people of the Kincardine community (including Ripley, Tiverton and Point Clark) in the work of Refugee Sponsorship.

In the last ten years we have sponsored 3 families consisting of 15 individuals from Iran, Syria and Afghanistan, all of whom were forced to flee their homes and their homeland – all that they knew and loved – because of war.

The Kincardine Refugee Committee and its volunteers support these families, encourage them and befriend them as they make their own decisions about their future.

We do not tell them what they should do, where they should go, how they should move forward, or where they should work.

We are here to provide full financial support for one year from the time of their arrival, including a home, furnishings, utilities, clothing, food and personal necessities.

We provide practical assistance and support as they become familiar with the banking system, the education system, the healthcare network. We help them find the stores where they can purchase culturally appropriate food. We help them learn how to navigate and access provincial and federal government agencies, and how to become familiar with their civic responsibilities and freedoms.

It is the intention of the Kincardine Refugee Committee to continue the work of sponsoring those in need. It is the work of our shared humanity.

If you would like to make a donation (tax receipts provided) to the work of refugee sponsorship, here are three options for doing that.

• Send an e-transfer to [email protected] Note in the comments “donation to Kincardine Refugee Committee”

• Make a cheque out to Kincardine Knox Presbyterian Church and mail it to the church at 345 Durham Street, Kincardine N2A 1Y6. Please remember to indicate Kincardine Refugee Committee on the memo line.

• Donate online via credit card by visiting “Canada Helps”. Click “donate” then enter Knox Presbyterian Church Kincardine Refugee Account. You will be able to print your tax receipt.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.
