Knox Presbyterian Church, Acton has been active for over 150 years, having celebrated our sesquicentennial in 1995.
Since our beginning, we have been faithful and obedient to the idea that we are a church for all people. We celebrate the knowledge that the reality of God’s living presence is life’s greatest joy.
Knox Church is a community of followers of Jesus Christ. We gather for worship, study and fellowship so that we might grow in likeness to Him and in compassionate service in His name. It is our aim to know the living Christ and to make Him known through the faithful proclamation of His Word and the sharing of our lives and resources with those who are our neighbours.
We seek to be a reconciling ministry in this community. Life in our time, in our place, brings pain, family needs and concerns, and serious community problems. We look for peace in our lives and solutions to the hurt and violence around us. Human strength is not enough. The community awaits God’s healing love and a journey closer to God.
Knox Church lives out its life under the guidance of the Kirk Session. “Kirk” is an old Scottish word for church. The Session is made up of ‘elders’ elected by the congregation. At Knox elders are elected for life. The Session makes the ‘policy’ decisions that affect the church.
The Life and Mission Project (L.A.M.P.) committees are charged with the responsibility of carrying out the policies approved by Session.
