Death Announcement – Don Meade

We’re very sad to share the news of the sudden passing of Don Meade (aka Crackers). He leaves behind many who will miss his presence in our lives. Wife Charlene, son Nicholas (Cato), sister Sue (Layne) and nieces Kelsey and Jenna.  He was predeceased by his parents Phyllis and Russ (Russell) Meade.

Missed by his extended Morley family of Susan and Chris (Debbie) –  his “brother from another Mother”, a life-long friend, and Chris & Debbie’s children Jon (Alyssa), Sara (Brandon) and the grandchildren : Lya, Aubree, Grayson and Oakley.

Don spent his early years in St. Catharines area, before moving to the “D” section in Bramalea. Here he went to school and met and married Jane, Nick’s Mom. Great quality time was spent at farmhouses he rented with Chris and “brothers” – firstly in Hornsby, then the Mississauga / Mayfield Road areas. Making lots of fantastic memories, and forming friendships that would last a lifetime.   He began the next chapter in his life when he married Charlene on Nov. 15th, 2017. Brampton was also where he established a career as a mechanic, where ,until his 2018 retirement he worked for the City of Brampton, at the Williams Parkway and Sandalwood Works Yards.

A former member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Bramalea, then Trafalgar Road Presbyterian, Oakville, he’d recently begun attending worship at North Bramalea Presbyterian Church, Brampton.

Don’s happy place was his trailer near Orr Lake, where he could sail, read, listen to music, chat with his neighbors and just relax.

Proud to be Canadian,  “the greatest country in the world”, and a Habs fan, he’d often end conversations with “You’re living in Canada, eh? Best place in the world.” Or to his family and close friends “Love you, see you, bye”.

Donations in his memory can be made to North Bramalea Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.

Funeral Services will be held at North Bramalea Presbyterian Church , November 2nd, 2024.  Visitation begins at 11: a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 noon.  A time of remembering and refreshments afterwards.
