July 12th: Let HIM Keep You
Scripture Passage - The Epistle of
Jude
(Note - Jude was most probably a brother of our Lord).
Verse - Jude 24a Now unto Him who is able to keep you...
Let HIM Keep You
My last meditation before I begin my holiday time, beginning Monday, July 13th to Monday August 17th (which may be followed by continuing education from August 17-30th, although this may be postponed until September or October depending when the facility is allowed to open due to COVID-19) is taking the form of a letter from me as your Stated Supply minister.
If things had remained normal without the intrusion of the coronavirus, my last Sunday would have been this Sunday July 12th (as it remains to be) and then holiday time as indicated above; and the search committee would most probably have had a candidate to recommend to the Session as North Bramalea's next minister. But as we know things have not been normal since mid March.
The question is asked where does NBPC stand in terms of ministry now? The NB Session and Brampton Presbytery renewed the covenant with myself and the congregation until the end of October 2020 at which time it could be renewed again if necessary. Although I cannot speak on behalf of the Search Committee, the news I have via the grapevine is that the Search Committee may be in a position to recommend a candidate to the Session this Fall as NB's next minister.
As our summer holiday time will largely take the form of a home 'staycation', please note that if you are in need of a minister during the summer, please call me at our residence (905) 456-1727 and in case we are not at home please leave your name and number and your call will be returned.
Also the summer meditations which I have enjoyed sharing with the congregation these last months will be replaced by 'Summer Musings' which consist of articles and writings I have collected over the years. Also please check our web site for Sunday Church Services which will be available to you for the summer.
At the June 16th Session meeting a Task Force was appointed to prepare the church building for re-entry for Sunday Worship Services with a target date of Sunday, September 13th which is in line with many of the congregations in the Presbytery of Brampton. Again this date is dependent upon the coronavirus being kept under the curve. Also you may be contacted by a member of the Task Force for assistance in preparing the building for re-entry, and if you are able your help would be greatly appreciated as many hands make the work light.
Little did we know that the March 15th Worship Service would be the last Service that we would worship together with you for a number of months and we do miss seeing you and being with you and look forward for this to take place in September.
Until then, as Jude wrote his letter to a church going through a difficult time, I say to members and friends of NBPC that until we come together again, I commend you to our Lord who is able to keep you until that day and to Him be the praise and glory due His Name now and forever more world without end. Amen.
Together in Faith,
Rev. Wayne
