Prayer Partnership
-
- We pray for Rena S.. Just as she was beginning a new chapter in her life moving into a senior’s retirement residence, Rena had an accident and is in hospital in recovery. Be with Rena and her family during this difficult time.
- We pray for healing following an accident Nancy M. experienced.
- We pray for all those individuals who face mental health challenges in their lives. May they seek and find support to deal with each unique life experience.
- We pray for Rev. Anita to help her in physical healing and recovery.
- We pray for Rev. Brotherton on her Sabbatical.
- We continue to prayer for peace. Many wars wage on and there seems to be no end in sight to the fighting. Help decision makers find new avenues to peace.
Praying for and with PCC congregations, committees, agencies, people and partners is one way of engaging in God’s mission in the world and focusing our lives on God.
Join in prayer with people across the country and celebrate the mission and ministry we are doing together by using the daily prayers submitted by congregations, committees, presbyteries and PCC staff. Daily prayers for July, August and September 2026 can be downloaded at https://presbyterian.ca/worship/prayer-partnership/
If there is somene you would like prayed for, there are slips of paper to fill out and drop into the box in the sanctuary. You can also message the Pastoral Care Worker, Laura, at [email protected] or call 905-441-1771.
Rev. Michelle Brotherton will be leaving on Sabbatical starting June 1, 2026
In the church, ministers are encouraged to take Sabbatical time and that is what Rev. Brotherton will be doing during the months of June, July, and August 2026. A Sabbatical is not a vacation. It is time to further develop one’s knowledge, skills, and connections in their field of study. We hope Rev. Brotherton will come back to us rested, refreshed, and ready for the future.
Rev. Brotherton has developed a personalized plan of action, reflection, self-care, learning, self-growth, professional enhancement, and most importantly, connecting with her Lord and Saviour in all these activities. The plan she has developed is articulated in a lengthy document already submitted. We hope that our church members will keep Rev. Brotherton in their prayers and thoughts this coming summer as she implements her Sabbatical Plan. We look forward to September, when we will see her in the pulpit again.
Entrance Door Restoration
From a distance, the entrance doors to the Sanctuary of our church look unremarkable. But those who use these doors regularly have noticed a significant change in their functionality.
The doors have deteriorated over time. They no longer open or close easily, and locking these doors has been a challenge. You can see in the picture to the right that the doors show significant deterioration. After consultation with several restoration consultants, we learned that the doors and surrounding trim could be repaired and restored. This is an expensive endeavour.
We developed two strategies to raise money to pay for the restoration:
- A small team worked together to write a Grant Proposal to the Presbyterian Church in Canada. The title of the Proposal was “DOORS TO WORSHIP, SAFETY AND SERVICE”. The Team received the news this past week that we were awarded a $10,000.00 grant. Team members included: Rev. Anne Blane (Interim Moderator for St. Andrew’s), Jim M., Barbara W., David M., Lilla G., Yvonne K., Jeff K. and Nancy D..
- A second fund raiser called the A-“DOOR”-ABLE ENVELOPE CHALLENGE was run within the church. 100 ENVELOPES were prepared with a DOLLAR AMOUNT from $1 TO $100 written on them. The goal for this fund raiser was $5,000.00 and the congregation has achieved that goal already. Nancy D., Brenda M., and Cindy G. were active in leading this effort.
This has been an amazing journey for all involved in both fund-raising efforts. We have been amazed at the generosity and the time, talent and donations that have been given towards this project. THANK YOU!!
