August 25, 2022

TO THE MEMBERS, ADHERENTS AND FRIENDS OF KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, GLENARM AND ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, FENELON FALLS

As you are aware, the amalgamation of Knox Presbyterian Church, Glenarm and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Fenelon Falls will take place on September 1, 2022.

A closing and amalgamation service will be held in Knox Presbyterian Church Glenarm on August 28, 2022 at 2:30 p.m..

The service will be conducted by the Lindsay/Peterborough Presbytery and is largely symbolic. For example, the Moderator of Presbytery, Susan Wallace, and Rev. Ann Blane will be conducting prayers of remembrance and thanksgiving on several items and symbols in the church. There will be a formal act of amalgamation led by the Moderator in which both Glenarm and Fenelon Falls Clerks of Session and the amalgamation team will participate. After the benediction there will be a recessional with the symbols and congregational records being carried from the church. Once everyone is outside the Moderator of the Lindsay/Peterborough Presbytery will be given the key and she will officially lock the church signifying that the church has been closed.

The video presentation “Precious Memories of Knox Glenarm” will be shared during this celebration. Victoria County Historical Society produced this visual display in 2020. The other portion was made and presented at the 2015 Christmas Eve Service. In this presentation, we will enjoy listening to our friends talk about Knox Glenarm, their memories of Glenarm church’s exciting events, and their dedicated hearts. Rev. Caleb Kim, Faye Nicholson and Barb Silver will deliver a message titled “Moving Forward.” Through this sermon, we will learn what God has done over the 157 years for Knox Glenarm and which direction God wants us to press ahead in the future. Reid Torrey, a good friend of Knox Glenarm, will provide bagpipe music during the processional and recessional.

We anticipate this will be both a happy and sad time remembering all the family milestones that have been celebrated within the walls of Knox Glenarm. We hope this will be a time to reminisce with each other and reflect on God’s bountiful blessings granted to us over the years.

Please plan to attend and pass this invitation on to anyone who would like to join in this final service in Knox Glenarm.

This service will also be broadcasted via Zoom and the virtual assembly instructions are located below.

Much prayerful thought has gone into this amalgamation process and we would ask for your prayers as we move forward on this new path God is creating for us.

We continue to humbly ask for your prayers and support for the new amalgamated congregation.

Let us close with words taken from a letter to the members and adherents of the Presbyterian churches in Hastings and Warkworth on their decision to amalgamate, as those words echo the thoughts from our own team.
At this time, let us remember:
The church is not a building or a denomination. According to
The Bible the church is the body of Christ
The people are the church and where the people gather in His name
Greatness shall happen because He said
“For where two or three come together in my name,
there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)

Blessings,

Rev. Kim and the Amalgamation Team

Service Info for July 31, 2022

Dear Friends,

I want to remind you of the two upcoming special services in August, on top of our regular 10:00 am hybrid worship gatherings. The first relates to the baptism of Olenna Martire, daughter of Joanne and Paolo Martire. This baptismal service will be held on Sunday, August 7th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls and also be broadcasted via Zoom. Everyone is encouraged to join in welcoming Olenna with love into God’s Kingdom. The Martire family would appreciate your presence and prayers for her at the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Please let me know if you can make it by the following Monday, if possible, via email at [email protected] or by phone at 705 341 8827. The second service concerns the closing of Knox Presbyterian Church Glenarm and the amalgamation with St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls. The particular service hosted by the Presbytery of Lindsay – Peterborough will take place at Knox Glenarm on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. (tentative time). You, your family and friends are invited to celebrate the faithful service and ministry Glenarm believers have done for God, His community, and His church over the 157 years. More detailed info about this will be shared as the time is closer to the meeting date.

With this exciting note, as for your information, please assemble the July 31st hybrid worship service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls. This Sunday, we will have a hymn sing with Mark Zac and make more joyful noises before the Lord. We will also explore the Creation of God in the Genesis sermon series (Genesis 1:1-26, 31). As usual, this sacred gathering will also be broadcasted via Zoom. The Zoom link below will open at 9:45 a.m. Before the service, the announcement slides will be presented to the congregation at the sanctuary and on Zoom. A copy of the service info, including the message, is attached.

Blessings,

Caleb

Service Info for July 24, 2022

Dear Friends,

I am excited to have the Genesis sermon series over the next eight Sundays. During those times, we will explore God’s creation, love, command, judgment, and salvation through chapters 1-11 of the book of Genesis. This Sunday, we will explore the Creator God and learn about the Lord’s massive universe. Famous astronaut Neil Armstrong said on the way back home after exploring the moon, “I put my thumb up and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out planet earth. But I did not feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.” In fact, we are so small when we know more of the Indescribable God and His Creation. Perceiving how big the cosmos is beyond our comprehensive knowledge. More astonishing is that the Almighty Lord knows each of us living on this tiny planet compared to the vast heavenly realms. God wants us to pay attention to what He can do for us and enjoy our precious present time before the Lord.

For your information, our worship service will have more joyful hymns next Sunday. It may be a bit of a challenge for us to have live music sounds via Zoom. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can make joyful noises before God and praise our Awesome Christ wholeheartedly.

With this note, I invite you to join the July 24th hybrid worship service. As usual, this sacred gathering will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls and will also be broadcasted via Zoom. The Zoom link below will open at 9:45 a.m. Before the service, the announcement slides will be presented to the congregation at the sanctuary and on Zoom. A copy of the service info, including the message, is attached.

Upcoming Services/Meetings:

August 28: Closing & Amalgamation Service at Knox, Glenarm at 2:30 p.m. (Tentative)

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).
