Valuing Jesus
What do we truly value today? Is it money, security, transparency, genuineness, influence, maybe it’s love, forgiveness, grace, or redemption? In all the things that we can value in this world an in our lives, are we valuing the right things in the right order? Do we forget about other things or take them for granted? Do we sell them off for something shinier but really less important?
In 1 Peter 1:17-23, Peter tells us that Christ is more valuable than gold or silver. That the gift of Jesus and all that Jesus brings into our lives is more important and valuable than the most sought-after precious metals of the time. But do we see the value in Jesus today?
In our busy filled lives do we see the gifts of love, grace, forgiveness, and redemption as important enough to spend time together with Jesus? Have we lost sight of Jesus because of our busyness, or do we expect Him to be there when get time?
We need to be willing to take time for Jesus, or we risk losing everything else we value. Jesus helps us put everything else into perspective but more importantly, we realize all the other things are gifts from Jesus and we see not their burden but the love of the giver.
