Church News and Service Information for August 24th, 2025

Dear Friends,

I would like to begin with an update on our church’s “Recipe Revival” article for the City of Kawartha Lakes. Over the past few months, Margaret Bewer has taken the lead in coordinating and preparing this report, highlighting Glenarm church’s treasured recipes, with the support of the St. Andrew’s Women of the Church. Last Sunday, Margaret shared with the congregation the rich stories behind beloved salads, pies, and pancakes–dishes that have been enjoyed by many of our friends both within our community and beyond.

These memorable stories serve as a beautiful reminder of our spiritual heritage and traditions as we look forward to thanking God on our upcoming anniversary Sunday. The report, along with the recipes, is attached for your interest. I will let you know once the link to these recipe stories is updated on our city’s website.

With this note, you are warmly invited to join us for our hybrid service at St. Andrew’s, Fenelon Falls, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

In this service, we will continue our series, “Developing a Faith That Works,” with Part Eleven: “How to Quit Playing God,” primarily based on James 4:12-13. We will also view a video clip from the Sermon on the Mount related to this Sunday’s message topic of judging others.

We hope you’ll be able to join us–whether in person or online–for a time of worship, learning and fellowship in the Lord this Sunday and/or on future Sundays.

Church News and Service Information for June 15th, 2025

Dear Friends,

My wife, Soon Hwa, and I are happy to share some joyful news about our second son, David. Last Thursday (a week ago), David graduated from the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Beginning July 1, 2025, he will start his residency in family medicine at North York General Hospital. His graduation photos will be shown during the announcement slides this Sunday.

We are deeply grateful to God for helping David reach this important milestone, and we sincerely thank you for your continued prayers for our family, especially for our children: Caleb Jr. and his wife Allison; David; and Hope.

During the General Assembly held last week, I had a wonderful time of fellowship with Rev. Torrey Griffiths. He previously served as an elder at the former Knox Glenarm before being ordained and called to serve the Kensington and New London Pastoral charge in PEI in January 2017. Some of you may remember that he was married to Angela in 2019, with the ceremony officiated by Rev. Dawne Griffiths, our church’s former Interim Moderator and my former mentor in the presbytery.

Rev. Griffiths asked me to convey his warm greetings to our congregation and shared two photos–one from their wedding and another of his family with his two lovely stepdaughters–which will be displayed during this Sunday’s announcement slides.

With these notes, I warmly invite you to join us for our hybrid service at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. During the service, we will reflect on the message titled “How to Be Blessed by the Bible” (based on James 1:19-27). We will also take time to honor Father’s Day and Trinity Sunday, and hear a brief report on the 2025 General Assembly.

Church News and Announcements for This Sunday:

Pastoral Visits & Home Communion: Caleb, along with his wife Soon Hwa and available elders, is planning to make pastoral visits during the summer months. Home communion will also be available upon request. If you or someone you know would benefit from a visit or this time of fellowship, please let Caleb or an elder know.

Shopping Card Orders: Orders will be collected on the following Sundays, June 15, July 20, and August 24. Please place your order with Donna Schley. Thank you to everyone who supports by using the cards.
