Church News and Service Information for December 29th, 2024

Dear Friends,

This Sunday marks the final Sunday of 2024. As we reflect on the past year’s cheerful and challenging seasons, how do we evaluate our journey? There may be moments we feel proud of and others we feel less satisfied. One of Satan’s common strategies as our spiritual adversary is to condemn our hearts by repeatedly reminding us of past weaknesses and failures.

We must remember that God understands our shortcomings and forgives our wrongdoings when we humbly and sincerely repent through Christ with the Holy Spirit’s help. When the Triune Lord created the heavens and the earth, He declared it good. After each day of creation, God evaluated His work as excellent. With God’s perspective, we are encouraged to look at what we have accomplished for our loved ones, our church, and our community. This enables us to be grateful for how has used us as His instruments for His people and His church, regardless of whether our contributions seem small or significant.

We can also thank God for His constant presence, protection, and provision for us, our loved ones, our church, and our community, throughout the year and beyond.

With this reflection in mind, I warmly invite you and your loved ones to join our hybrid worship service at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. This Sunday, we will focus on God’s blessing upon the prophet Anna, as one of the first Christmas disciples, as outlined in Luke 2:36-39.

Please find attached the service information, including the sermon for December 29 as well as a copy of the sermon for December 24.

Service Information for December 22 and 24, 2024

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the St. Andrew’s Session, I extend warm Christmas and happy holiday wishes to you and your loved ones. As we approach this sacred season, we are invited to celebrate the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Although it is His birthday, He offers us the extraordinary gift of Himself. During our upcoming services, we are encouraged to reflect on and gratefully receive our Heavenly Father’s greatest gift–His one and only Son, Jesus–for each of us.

I also want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our church members and friends. Your unwavering support and faithful prayers for God’s ministry within our faith community and beyond have been invaluable this year and always. We deeply appreciate your contributions to the Lord’s work–whether seen or behind the scenes, recognized or unnoticed, great or small.

Jesus, our Immanuel, Jesus, delights in us as a church family, working together to fulfill our mission: “To communicate faith, hope, and love by supporting and serving our congregation and the local community.” The Lord also rejoices in our commitment to “welcome everyone to our church who seeks to love God and participate in an open and supportive congregation grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ.”

With these messages of Christmas blessings and appreciation, I warmly invite you and your loved ones to join us for our upcoming worship services:
The Fourth Advent Hybrid Worship Service will take place at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls and via Zoom on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
The Christmas Eve Communion and Candlelight Service will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

As we celebrate, let us remember the angel’s words: “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:10-12).

Blessings,

Caleb

Church News and Service Information for December 15th, 2024 – Advent 3

Dear Friends,

I would like to begin by expressing my deep appreciation to the St. Andrew’s Women of the Church for the wonderful brunch fellowship they prepared for the congregation. It was such a warm welcome for my wife and me as we returned from our sabbatical. Your love and care meant a great deal to us, and we were deeply encouraged to continue serving in our God-given mission and ministry with you as part of this heavenly team.

With this note, I warmly invite you and your loved ones to join us for our hybrid worship service at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls, either in person or via Zoom, on Sunday, December 15, 2024. During the service, we will explore the name of Christ, Immanuel, from the Gospel of Matthew. We will reflect on the meaning of this significant symbolic title of Jesus and how it applies to our faith journeys. As mentioned earlier, I also plan to share some reflections on my sabbatical during the message.

Our service will begin at 10:00 a.m., both in person and via live streaming, and will conclude around 11:00 a.m. The Zoom link provided below will be active 15 minutes before the service, and announcement slides will be displayed for both the congregation in the sanctuary and those joining online.

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means “God with us”” (Matthew 1:21-23).

Blessings,

Caleb

Caleb’s Appreciation to the Session and the Congregation for the Time of His Intermission

Dear Friends,

My wife and I would like to begin by expressing our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your prayers during my sabbatical. We have truly been blessed with the opportunity to travel through several Southeast Asian countries and visit our homeland, Korea. This journey has been both a profound adventure in foreign lands and a cherished time with loved ones, especially my mother, who is doing well. Throughout this extended period, we have experienced the presence, provision, protection, and guidance of the Lord, our Shepherd, holding fast to the Word of God from Psalm 23:1-3. This has been one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences I have ever had as a servant of God. It has left my wife and me feeling relaxed, refreshed, and renewed-both physically and spiritually. I look forward to sharing reflections from this time of rest with you during the third Advent worship service, which will be held next Sunday.

I also want to express my deep appreciation to the ministers in our presbytery who shared the Word of God or provided emergency pastoral care, as well as to the lay preachers in our church who delivered their God-given messages out of love for the Lord. Furthermore, I offer my sincere thanks to all who have diligently prepared for and contributed to our hybrid worship services in various ways. All sermons, along with church news and service information from my time away, have been posted on our church website. Your dedication has been a true blessing to our congregation.

Blessings,

Caleb

Hello Friends,

Sunday the 24th, we will focus on Presbyterians Sharing – a day to celebrate and learn about our shared mission and ministry in Canada and around the world. The Presbyterian Church in Canada includes 780 congregations, 102,000 members and adherents, 1,254 ministers, and 11,000 children and youth. Presbyterian congregations worship in many languages and come from many places and cultures. We are followers of Jesus. We share our gifts and work together to make a difference in this world.

We faithfully continue Christ’s ministry, as together we build strong congregations, seek justice, serve vulnerable people, walk with Indigenous people and share God’s love worldwide.

On that day, we will remember and celebrate that this congregation is a part of a wider church family, The Presbyterian Church in Canada. God’s Spirit connects us, inspires us, and challenges us to continue Christ’s ministry in our country and across the globe. Thanks be to God!
