Let us pray

God of tragedy and healing, we are confronted by the reality of human brokenness and hatred. We come to Good Friday once again confronted by our sin taken upon by Jesus. We are confronted by our disillusionment of what we expected and the brutal reality of what we got. Help us to remember that through this brokenness we are given new life. The way that we expected freedom was changed to the true freedom we could not receive through any human means. We are confronted by a love that goes beyond anything we have ever experienced, a love that is stronger than the death that sin brings or the immensity of sin itself. The Love that Jesus lived out and lives out is continually working at restoring the devastation that sin has caused. It is shining light in the darkness, showing us the way forward, the way to life with God.
