Devotion for Life for April 14th, 2026
New beginning
Many of us at different points in our lives will want a new beginning. Not so long ago that was a lot easier than it is today. One used to be able to leave one town and go to another and no one would know anything about them. Today however with the internet we can know a great deal about many people’s past just from their internet footprint. It is hard to leave our past behind.
However, in Revelation 21 and 22 it gives us the picture about what can happen when we have faith and trust in Jesus. Our sins are forgiven and we see the old order, the old way of doing things passing away to a time where we have the new gift of grace and forgiveness. In this instance it is not about leaving town to change but staying with Jesus and He changes everything. He changes not just the town but how we relate to everything and everyone. The old broken way of sin is replaced with the new way of wholeness and life. It is an undoing of the effects of sin in the world and opening up the gate to real life.
Today trust Jesus to do what seems impossible and give the stability of life we all need.
“He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.”
Revelation 21:5-7 NIV
