Response to the Pandemic

When the pandemic hit and governments mandated lockdowns, our churches decided to close our buildings. The buildings were shut but churches quickly adapted, moving to online services and keeping in touch with members in various ways.

In the process, we discovered a new ministry. Offering pre-recorded online services enabled us to reach shut-ins, and people in retirement and nursing homes. Offering Bible studies and other programs online, usually with Zoom, allowed congregations to connect and interact with each other. This was particularly important for congregations that didn’t have ministers at the time – people could connect with programs in other congregations. Zoom meetings allowed us to hear from, and about, some of the smaller churches that are unable to host Presbytery meetings in person!
