Service Information for June 2, 2024

Dear Friends,

Let’s begin by exploring the definition of Holy Communion as outlined in the Westminster Larger Catechism:

Question 168: What is the Lord’s Supper?
Answer: The Lord’s Supper is a sacrament of the New Testament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine according to the appointment of Jesus Christ, his death is showed forth; and they that worthily communicate feed upon his body and blood, to their spiritual nourishment and growth in grace; have their union and communion with him confirmed; testify and renew their thankfulness, and engagement to God, and their mutual love and fellowship each with other, as members of the same mystical body.

As announced before, this Sunday, we will observe Holy Communion/The Lord’s Supper taking place at 10:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary or via Zoom. A pre-packed sacred element will be blessed by the church elders prior to the service during the session meeting and will be distributed to participants in an in-person gathering. For those anticipating participating in this communion service virtually, please prepare your own elements: grape juice/wine and bread. Please keep in mind that Holy Communion is a sacred remembrance of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross.

You and your loved ones, including children, are all invited to the Lord’s Table!

During our worship, we will also explore Christ’s Agape Love reflecting the three C letters, Covenant, Commitment, and Communion, and apply this heavenly love to our faith journey.

Our sacred assembly will commence at 10:00 a.m., both in-person and online live-streaming, and conclude around 11:00 a.m. The Zoom link provided below will be active 15 minutes prior to the service. Announcement slides will be shared before the service with both the congregation in the sanctuary and those joining us on Zoom.

Upcoming Events and Services:
June 2-6: General Assembly at Laurier University in Waterloo.
June 10: Worship Leader – Rev. Tim Purvis, Associate Secretary of Ministry and Church Vocations, PCC.
June 29: Yard Sale. Please get in touch with Stan Wray if you have items to contribute or have any questions. More detailed information will be shared soon.
July 7: Decoration Service at Knox Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

“A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).

Blessings,

Caleb

Church News and Service Information for March 29th and March 31st, 2024

Dear Friends,

Happy Easter! I warmly invite you and your loved ones to the upcoming two hybrid worship services at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls.

The first assembly, called the “Good Friday” service, along with a pancake breakfast, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024. During the service, we will contemplate the cross while listening to relevant articles and scriptures. At the end of the reflections, we will participate in the “Driving the Nails” activity, which symbolizes joining in Jesus’ bearing of the punishment for all our sins on the cross.

As mentioned before, prior to the holy gathering above, as the host of the meal fellowship, St. Andrew’s Women of the Church will be serving a delicious pancake breakfast starting at 8:00 a.m. in the church basement. Everyone is welcome to join this divine feast as the conclusion of the Lenten season. On behalf of the church, I express our gratitude to those who will prepare this meal for us.

The second gathering, known as “Easter,” one of the biggest Christian celebrations, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2024. This Easter Sunday, we will explore the Living Words of Christ: “Young Man, I Say to You, Get up?” and will also have a children’s time related to the meanings of the Resurrection of Jesus for us as His disciples.

These sacred assemblies will be accessible for both in-person and online live-streaming. The Zoom link below will be active 15 minutes prior to these service times. Announcement slides will be shared before the services with both the congregation in the sanctuary and those joining us on Zoom.

I’ve placed upcoming church news and services below:

St. Andrew’s Women of the Church will meet on Wednesday, April 3rd, at 1:30 p.m. in the Church basement. Everyone is welcome to join this fellowship.

Donations to the local Salvation Army Food Bank will be collected next Sunday, April 7th. All contributions are greatly appreciated.

Lizz Hoyle, Guest Speaker, will be sharing the Word of God with us on Sunday, April 7th, while I am with the Campbellford congregation on that Sunday.

I will be on holiday from Monday, April 15th, to Thursday, May 23rd, 2024. During that time, Rev. Ian Marnoch, Minister at Knox Presbyterian Church in Bobcaygeon, will be taking care of any pastoral emergencies. He can be reached at 705-738-4086 (Church) or by email at [email protected].

“Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, ‘Young man, I say to you, get up!’ The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother” (Luke 7:14-15).

Have a blessed and meaningful Holy weekend!

Blessings,

Caleb

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:23-25).
