At Caradoc Presbyterian Church we recognize the Power of Prayer.
When Christians gather their hearts, or gather together, in prayer the Spirit of God moves in action to God’s will.

These reflections are meant to be used more than once, remember how hearing the same scripture read again you hear it in a new way? The same is true of this style of mediation. Come back again and again and find it in a new way!
New! Evening Examen by: Sara Hargreaves, Sam Hargreaves
Here is a guided prayer reflection based on the Examen. This is a way of thinking back over your day with God, prayerfully, thankfully and honestly. The prayer begins with a reading from Psalm 63, and scripture passages punctuate the reflection.
New! Elijah in the Cave by: Sara Hargreaves, Sam Hargreaves
A guided reflection: This Bible reflection invites you to use your imagination as you think through the story of Elijah meeting with God in the cave (1 Kings 19:98-14). It is one of our longer reflections (11.30 mins) so we suggest you use this when you have the time available. You can respond to all the questions in your mind, jot down words in a journal, or even sketch/doodle your reflections.
Out of the Depths by: Sam Hargreaves, Sara Hargreaves
This audio reflection is based on Psalm 130. It steps through the different aspects of the Psalm, encouraging you to be honest with God in intercession, confession, and waiting on God.
Everything I Have Is Yours by: Sam Hargreaves, Sara Hargreaves
This short audio reflection is based on the words of the father to the elder brother of the prodigal son – “‘My child, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.'” (Luke 15:31). It encourages us to reflect on whether we, like the elder brother, sometimes forget what we have in God. What would it mean to live every day know that God is with us, and that all we have is provided by our gracious Father?
Peace Be With You reflection by: Sam Hargreaves, Sara Hargreaves
This audio reflection is on the peace of Jesus, and how it differs from the peace that the world gives. It draws from familiar Advent and Christmas Bible passages, and helps us think about whether we let the peace of God “rule in our hearts” (Colossians 3:15).

Knowing God’s Love by: Sam Hargreaves, Sara Hargreaves
This audio reflection is 4.31 minutes in length. It begins with a quote from Henri Nouwen:
“You must make the connection between prayer and life. The closer you are to the heart of God, the closer you come to the heart of the world, the closer you come to others… We’re called always to action, but that action must not be driven, obsessive, guilt-ridden. Basically it’s action that comes out of knowing God’s love.” (from “The Road to Peace” edited by John Dear, page 159).
The rest of the reflection is an invitation to receive words of God’s love from the Bible, so that we might be sent out to share God’s love.
