Church News and Service Information for February 25, 2024

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to extend an invitation to you and your loved ones to join our hybrid worship service at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls on the second Sunday in Lent, starting at 10:00 a.m. This Sunday, we will continue to study the second part subtitled “How to Excel in My Education” of this year’s first sermon series titled “Unshakable,” based on the book of Daniel. During Children’s Time, we will present “The Importance of the Word of God” to both the young and the young at heart.

This divine gathering will be accessible for both in-person and online live-streaming. The Zoom link below will be active from 9:45 a.m. Announcement slides will be shared before the service with both the congregation in the sanctuary and those joining us on Zoom.

In addition to this service information, I want to share a couple of announcements. Firstly, in the ongoing fundraising project called “Shopping Card,” orders will be collected this Sunday. We appreciate those who have participated in this project. Please reach out to Donna Schley, the coordinator, if you have any questions. Secondly, donations to the local Salvation Army will be collected on Sunday, March 3, 2024, and all contributions are greatly valuable. Thirdly, the World Day of Prayer Service organized by FFAC will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Everybody is welcome. Fourthly, Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Prepacked communion elements will be used for those who join the in-person gathering, and those who wish to participate in the Lord’s Supper via Zoom need to be prepared with their own elements.

Please keep in mind the Annual Meeting, which will be held right after next Sunday’s service. Your prayer for this critical congregational gathering and your presence, either in person or via Zoom, will be greatly appreciated.

A Lenten Pancake Breakfast will be held after the service on the First Sunday of Lent, on February 11, 2024. This fellowship will be prepared by St. Andrew’s Women.

The 2024 Annual Meeting will take place at the church and via Zoom after the service on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

The Holy Communion Roster for 2024 is scheduled for March 3, June 2, October 6, December 1, and December 24.

Please mark these dates in your agenda. Your prayers for these divine gatherings and your participation, whether in person or via Zoom, would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to remind you of the 2024 Lent Bible Study on DVD, titled “Unshakable,” instructed by Rick Warren. The study will take place on eight Wednesdays, starting on February 7 and concluding on March 27, 2024. The session will run from 10:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. via Zoom. This topic will also be preached from the pulpit during the Lent season. Ten copies of the study guide, generously provided by an anonymous contributor, will be available for your participation or self-observation. They will be placed on the desk at the back of the sanctuary before and after this Sunday’s service.

Church News and Announcements:

In the spirit of Christian Unity, all the churches in Fenelon Falls will participate in a scripture reader exchange this Sunday. We extend a warm welcome to Michael McKenna from Immanuel Baptist Church, who will be reading the Bible in our service. Additionally, our representative, Arlene Ten Hove, will visit Shiloh Church to read the scripture at their service. We appreciate the assistance of both Michael and Arlene in making this exchange possible.

It is understandable if some of us feel hesitant, especially considering the mixed feelings from our efforts last year. Yet, let us remember: God’s transformative work within us is ongoing! The same God who initiated this journey of transformation in each of us remains steadfast and unchanging. He promises to bring this work to fruition if we persistently place our trust in Him.

With this brief note, I am pleased to invite you and your loved ones to our hybrid worship service at St. Andrew’s Fenelon Falls, on the first Sunday of 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m. This Sunday, we will learn about God’s intention for each of us, emphasizing the fulfilment of our dreams and visions, as well as guiding our loved ones in His divine manner and timing. Additionally, we will glean insights from God’s creation, the Eagle, that we need in our faith journey.
